I have a long history of pursuing practices that help me to feel and expand my own energy and thereby my consciousness. I have my Reiki I and II certification and am a certified yoga instructor. I have participated in sweat lodges and fire walks and in cermonial work in a number of settings. Many years ago, before I even pursued my yoga teacher certification, I had taken a Chi Gong class from a local instructor.
At the time I was a new mother and so juggled sleeplessness with learning and experiencing this practice. This particular class focused on standing postures. I experienced during this class what I now recognize as a deep purification of my emotions and, in particular, my anger. This was completely surprising to me and, to be honest, uncomfortable; only because anger was not something I was accumstomed to integrating as part of myself. My own anger was not something I was comfortable accepting as valid. This class put this fact about myself front and center and forced me to face it, as I was undeniably angry.
After that class I decided to dive deeper into yoga. I pursued yoga for very different reasons than perhaps some people practice yoga today. A door had opened and I desparately wanted to know more about myself, my soul and my purpose for being here in this lifetime. Chi Gong had been the first experience that told me there was definitely more to learn about myself.
Fast forward many years and, after much work on myself, I came back to my practice of Chi Gong. This time I am a different person and so my experience has been different. For several years now I have practiced Chi Gong daily. It is a very important part of my morning practices; I consider it as important as brushing my teeth in the morning.
I learned a long time ago that I, in particular, connect deeply to my own soul and to the energy of nature, the universe, et cetera though movement. Chi Gong provides me with a strong and direct way for me to bring my own energy into alignment each and every day. Every time I have finished a class or a practice I can feel universal energy flowing through me even more strongly than after my Reiki certifications. These are ancient practices with ancient wisdom, but most importantly, these practices support me keeping my own energy in excellent condition. Now more than I ever, I am focused on the state of my own energy and its affect on others. These practices are what help me stay exactly where I feel most connected… most connected to my highest self, my soul and my heart.
